The good stuff:

Very well made - tough material, excellent hardware, superior workmanship
Divided organizer on front of pack - easily accessible
Lots of extra pockets throughout
Separate laptop compartment
Dedicated fleece-lined sunglasses pocket
Large mesh side pockets will accommodate full sized Nalgene bottles

The bad stuff:

Dark interior lining throughout makes it difficult to see small items in bottom of pockets.

Burton gets a little too 'pocket happy' in some places and they are 'pocket stingy' in other places.  I would have removed two of the three zippered front panel pockets and I would have added one or two more divided pockets in the organizer panel.

Better yet, I would have removed the front magazine slash pocket (located just behind the double vertical pockets) and made the two front vertical pockets into a single large vertical pocket with a hidden zipper. It would look more like this:

Instead of this:

Why not put the tablet pocket in the laptop compartment?  Then make the current tablet pocket deeper and remove the fleece to allow the user to slide in legal size folder files.

I think the lash straps on the bottom should be removable - I see them as being a door knob or arm chair grabbing nuisance.

Why not make the mesh side pockets extend all the way to the bottom of the pack?

The dedicated sunglasses pocket is tucked into the main compartment instead of being accessible form the outside of the pack.

The covered zipper for laptop compartment makes it cumbersome to open and close.

The partial opening for the laptop compartment is an odd choice; should have been a 7 to 1 or a 9 to 3 zipper opening instead of a 9 to 1.

The back panel channels should have been deeper; the pack feels hot to wear.

The design of the sternum strap is flawed; it is very hard to adjust and just doesn't work well as is.

Grade:

B-; There is a lot of potential here with this pack.  I wish Burton would ask me to help them design their packs.  I could easily make this an A level pack.
