Video review:
The good stuff:
- a bargain - $60 is ridiculous for what you get here.
- best waist belt compared to all packs reviewed as of 8/19/14
- simple design looks clean and uncluttered
- handy hidden slash pocket on front of pack
- hooks for holding hydration bladder (in the laptop compartment)
- side mesh pockets will hold a full-sized Nalgene - ignore video comment about shallowness
- handle on front of pack
- compression straps do not interfere with zippers
- stiff frame sheet
- bucket style opening to main compartment
- large zippered pocket on top of lid can hold goggles
- strap to hold in laptop
- separate tablet pocket
The bad stuff:
- divided organizer inside of main compartment
- not a separate compartment for laptop - inside of main compartment
- too big - seems even bigger than 30L
- shoulder straps not comfortable and too short - dig into my upper rib cage
- sternum strap is set too high at its lowest setting
- cheap zipper pulls (parachute cord) - one aluminum zipper pull on lid pocket only
- thin, unpadded handle on top - would not want to hold it by this handle for longer than five minutes
Grade: B
